25 Things About MWM
Ok, ya’ll are making me feel guilty for not doing this so… peer power wins again!
- I’m a twin (have a twin sis)
- I grew up with four sisters and no brothers
- I have over 50 jumps (Airborne!)
- I often forget what I was about to say or write (like now, which made me write this line here)
- My last name was Morris until I was seven, when my Dad adopted my twin and I.
- I’ve been to Japan, England, Haiti, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Canada, Germany, and Spain (on a layover) (but I’ve never been to me… hehe, sorry)
- I once planned on biking (pedal) a zigzag route across the states, but got engaged and that was forgotten.
- Speaking of engagements, I’ve never been married and my only true regret in life is the way I ended that one.
- For a slob, I can be pretty anal about keeping certain things in order. The house chores simply aren’t one of them.
- I quit smoking in April 08 after 23yrs of a half to to 2 packs a day.
- I’ve been medically retired since 1999, even though the Army and VA barely acknowledge it.
- I’ve shaved my moustache off a total of three times since 1991, only to grow it back immediately (2 of 3 for a woman)
- I’ve accidentally started 2 fires that could have been very bad and happened upon 3 fires that I helped keep under control until the professionals arrived; so I’m one ahead there ;)
- I can remember things that happened when I was 3 to 5 quite vividly, some things from when I was 2 hazily.
- My aunt, only five years older, and I would sing Terry Jacks’ Seasons in the Sun and make my twin, named Michelle, cry during the final verse.
- My biological father is called “the sperm donor” and I haven’t seen him in around 20yrs, yet am very close with much of his side of family.
- The W. stands for Wayne, which is my paternal grandfather’s name, except his actual name is Harold and Wayne is just a name he liked and always went by.
- I’ve always (until my health woes) learned things rather quickly, by both reading and doing. Being taught, not so much.
- I now tend to forget what I isn’t right front of me until it is again; then my memory of it usually returns with good detail the more its talked about.
- I grew up attending Baptist Sunday school and summer church camps until age seven. From then till high school I was a fairly devote Catholic. From 19 to 21 I was very “contemporary Christian” in that non-denominational, Jesus is love sort of way. War, life, reading up on various religions, and self examination turned me into your basic agnostic, more or less.
- In 1990, I helped save a man from bleeding to death after he shot himself in face just 3 feet away from me. I hope he is glad of that today and doesn’t resent me for it.
- When I was about six to eight months or so old, I had a fever of 106.7, was so dehydrated I looked like skin and bones literally, and they fear brain damage *waits for the inevitable jokes stop*
- Upon reading my baby book, I’ve learned that at age six months, I started laughing at and talking to my hands. This apparently went on for months.
- I had a 3.5 gpa in high school, but coasted through, never putting forth the effort; this lead to my dropping out of college and spending 50hrs a week on my part-time job at the pizza shoppe (pizza shoppe #1) and shooting pool every night until dawn, and finally to joining the army.
- If I could be anything at all, I’d be a renaissance man (because doing one thing in life is boring).
